What is an embedded operating lead?
A senior operator who joins your company from the inside — accountable for building a commercial capability, not for advising on one. They diagnose the constraint, do the work alongside your people, and leave the capability behind when they go.
How it differs from a consultancy
A consultancy transfers a recommendation and leaves you the execution risk. An embedded lead carries the execution: defining the offer, standing up the team, taking it to market. The deliverable is a working practice, not a document.
How it differs from a fractional executive
A fractional executive fills a seat for as long as you pay for it. An embedded lead builds something designed to run without them — the engagement ends when the capability holds on its own.
What an engagement looks like
At Humanloop the role runs inside a residency: fixed 30-day cycles with a hand-picked crew of specialists, performance-aligned where it makes sense. How the business operates is captured as it is built, so what gets made keeps running after we leave — where it fits, on Kamber, a company Humanloop built for that problem. Recent example: a data practice built inside a mid-market company in twelve weeks, with $6M of qualified pipeline behind it.
Who it's for
Mid-market companies, PE portfolio firms, and high-growth technology vendors — anywhere the strategy is signed off and the number still isn't moving.
